food, fate, and fun in SG
Monday 16th January
Ran errands mostly but did manage to meet up with L for lunch at the Sun and Moon Japanese Cafe (Wheelock Place 3rd floor). The food was really good and we did some heavy duty catching up. Also had dinner date with my mum. But mainly, I was still sick from the cold and just didn't feel up to much.

Tuesday 17th January
Had lunch with Annie and caught up quite a bit even though we only had an hour to spare. After lunch, I ended up shopping around Raffles Place and realized, albeit belatedly, that there are really quite a number of shops here catering to the office folk in the financial district. And the stuff weren't that expensive too - got three pairs of pretty shoes each under $30!

Dinner was with a bunch of friends I knew from SF days but are now based in SG. I got to practise my rusty 'suaning' skills and received a cool Crumpler laptop bag along with other color-coordinated gifts. The night ended relatively young since two of them had to go to work early the next day. But it was definitely yet another fruitful catching up session.

Wednesday 18th January
Slept in and tried to do some work. Then left home around noon with my brudder to meet mum for lunch and facial (at Angelsky8). It's been nearly a year since I had a facial so it felt really, really good. As usual, I talked with the girl who was attending to me and found out that she was *only* 21 - sigh... felt really old then.

The evening was spent re-learning my taiji moves with my parents and distant cousins.  Followed by my specially requested dinner at the nearby Chinatown market with the taiji instructor and another ex-classmate.

Lightly cooked Cockles that were big and juicy...dipped in special chilli sauce Mmmm...

Thursday 19th January
First day of stomach flu and it was a serious one too. Unfortunately it was also a day I'd packed to the rim with activities and since I was leaving in 3 days, I couldn't possible postpone any of these plans.

Went to my old office and hung out with coworkers for a bit including lunch at the nearby Ayer Rajah Food Center. I told myself I wasn't going to eat anything bad for my stomach but my coworkers knew how much I missed fishhead curry so I just couldn't bring myself to tell them of my stomach flu.... Yup! I ate the fishhead curry and other sambal dishes as any true-blue Singaporean should (without getting stomach flu).

Then I made a quick run to Orchard Road to try and fix a bag I'd bought and even had time to sit down for a cuppa kopi. I was still feeling really weak from the stomach flu so on hindsight, coffee's diuretic qualities were probably not the best option for me at that time. In fact, I think the coffee definitely made its presence known in my intestines when I went for my next appointment(s)....

This was followed by a trip to Bugis Junction where I arranged to meet up with an ex-USF friend (who just transferred/returned to Singapore for good) and a fellow blogger. Which fellow blogger? Yup, you guessed it! It was Janice from Hunnybunz. I couldn't get the permalink for the post Janice did but she already photoshopped a picture of me with her bunz so guess I don't need to put the one we took here.

kidding!!!

But I wasn't kidding about my lack of photoshop skills... so no blurry background
sorry =(

Like Janice, I felt really comfortable chatting with her and the bunz. Yihang showed me what a sweet older brother he was when he immediately offered to share his book with didi. And Yixiang completely charmed me with his hip-hop hands-in-the-air dancing moves to the music that was playing in the background. Although the time spent was short, especially with the kids getting restless sitting at MOS burger, it was definitely a very special one for me. I've been following and inspired by the Hunnybunz for about a year so it was nice to finally be able to meet up with them.

My last stop for Thursday evening was at SAFRA Toa Payoh where I met up with my ex-classmates and teacher from ba zi class. I sat in on a class but left midway because my parents wanted to have a family talk that night. So... Thursday was definitely the most productive but also the most exhausting day for me during this trip.
